| (T-S) (G) T greets learners and using method “find your place”, T gives papers with the names of oceans to Ss. Ss look at the cards and are divided into four groups. There are four names according to the oceans in the cards.
Activity 1 (S-T) (W) Ss watch a video about “Five oceans song”. T asks some questions and Ss answer them. Teacher uses the strategy “no hand questions” What this video is about? How many oceans are there on the Earth? What are their names? FA: Heads down, thumbs up
New Vocabulary material (T-S) T introduces new words and pronounces them. Ss repeat after T two times. Teacher gives the list of definitions and students match these definitions with the new words. New words: make up, cover, join, volcanic activity, mountain range, breeze, monsoon, flood
Activity2 (T-S)(G) Teacher gives definitions of these verbs using active board look/smell/taste/feel/sound like use be made of Teacher distributes assignments to the groups and students will find the meaning of the verbs and in pairs will match these verbs look like /smell like/sound like/feel like .Teacher uses the strategy “find and match” 1Volcanoes feel like rain 2. Mountain range smells like teen spirit 3. Breeze seem like rainbow 4. Flood look like wind 5. Monsoon sound like planet 6. Make up looks like fireworks FA:STARS
Activity 3 (S-S) (G) T gives worksheets with information about oceans to each group and asks to prepare for project work. Ss work with given tasks in groups. Ss use research materials and the Internet to find out more about ocean currents and how they affect our weather and life on Earth. Ss should record the results through the strategy ‘Gallery’ prepared posters and presented other groups Text.” Earth’s ocean” The Pacific Oceans is the largest ocean in the world. It covers 165,250,000km.It also has the deepest waters. The Mariana Trench is 11,034 metres deep and 2550km long. The Pacific Ocean has very bad weather. Many powerful storms form out in the open ocean every year. There is also a lot of volcanic islands such as Hawaii, Tonga and Samoa. The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest ocean in the world. It covers an area of over 82,000,000km.Under the Atlantic ocean lies a mountain range called the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Indian Ocean is smaller than the Atlantic. It covers about 73000,000km.It usually has gentle breezes. However, from the month of April to October monsoons form over the ocean. They carry a lot of rain into india that causes terrible floods. The Southern Ocean is the fourth largest ocean. It covers an area of more than 20,000,000km.It is a very cold ocean because it is near the Antarctic and much of it is cover in ice. The Arctic Ocean is the smaller of all five oceans. It covers about 14,000,000km.It is one of the coldest oceans. Ice covers the central part of the ocean all year round.
Ss of other groups assess them by ‘Traffic light’ Ss hang stickers with green color for great job, yellow color for good job, red color for done job with poor presentation. Plenary Students assess themselves with the test on Cahoots! 1 Which is the deepest ocean in the world? 2 Which oceans are covered in ice ? 3 What is the deepest area of the Pacific Ocean called? 4 In which ocean can we find volcanoes? 5 In which ocean is Hawaii? 6 What is under the Atlantic Ocean 7 Which ocean has lots of rain for half the year?

Differentiation-how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners? | Assessment-how are you planning to check learner’s learning | Cross-curricular links Health and safety check ICT links Value links | |||||||
In activity 1 differentiation by support. In activity 2 differentiation by support because students watch the video about tasks In activity 3 differentiation by outcome.
| In activity 1- teacher uses head down, thumbs up by similar to the use of traffic light cards, however, you can then pick pupils at random to explain their choice. In activity 2 - teacher applies stars to assess students In activity 3 - teacher use traffic light cards to show understanding of instructions, can be linked to outcomes(red=All, yellow=Most, green=Some | Cross-curricular links: Geography Health and safety check: every classroom precautions will ensure that safety measure are provided to prevent the exposure of electrical power cords ICT links: Projector or Smart board to show a presentation, notebook Value links :cooperation, personal state | |||||||
