WATCHING MOVIES IS A GREAT WAY TO LEARN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

For many people, watching movies is a great way to spend quality time with their loved ones.

It is also a common hobby that brings people together. However, if you are a language learner who

is currently attempting to learn English, watching movies is a not only a great way to learn how to

speak English fluently, but also one of the most fun ways that can be used while learning English.

It is not a secret that now young people learn languages with the help of films, TV serials.

That is quite simple, interesting and effective. I even fear that this way has not been estimated

totally. Especially, from two points: as a transformation an education process to an entertainment,

were lucky, some were not, at any rate I consider, the idea is amazing and great; it’s like a diving

into language immersion. It has been said through the ages the language immersion is really helpful

and effective to learn the language. Far back in the past people had to go to another country, stay

there for a long time. Now we possess a great gift of globalization – new mode to study foreign

languages.

If you’re tired of going to class or reading a book, there’s nothing better than learning English

through movies and film. We shall try to least the benefits of learning foreign languages with the

help of cinema movies:

 Listening to the pronunciation of words.

 Learning new words, confirming what you have heard.

 Learning necessary expressions.

 Study real life-using words.

 Avoiding the threat of impractical speech.

There could be no diminution of the movie method, but the way has to develop it. We bear in

mind that we do not confine to only one language. When we see some movie we are getting the

information two ways: by the audio and by the text (subtitles). We would like to say that if you

understand the words, you will understand the plot. I came up with this idea when I saw Bumblebee

in Lithuania. In Russia we are used to watch all foreign films voiced in Russia. However, in

Lithuania, Poland the American films are not usually voiced in native language. Films are subtitled.

So, we are about getting a mode to learn two languages during we watch one film. With no doubts,

we take into account that it is really difficult and complicated. At the beginning, the film has to be

really simple to understand, or it must be children cartoon. However, let us accept that you are not

interested in boring fairy tale for kids. Then we are pleased to offer interesting and amazing movies.

We mean Transformers. It has very well understandable speeches of the main heroes of the movie –

transformers. Especially, we would like to underline the speeches of Optimus Prime. Thanks to

great actor Peter Cullen and his great voice every pupil, who knows English more or less, can

understand words of the leader of autobots, the simplicity of words and really slow pronouncing.
